GREER: Clean water impacts so much of our lives, and we know many people in our service territory are hurting, as well as those in Western North Carolina following Tropical Storm Helene. Our annual Lake Robinson Day will go on as scheduled on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm and will include a food and household drive for Greer Relief.

“We are grateful for the partnership and collaboration during this challenging time following the devastation from Helene. The community’s response in collecting essential items has been heartwarming and demonstrates our shared commitment to supporting those in need,” said Caroline Robertson, Greer Relief Executive Director.

Attendees are encouraged to bring pasta, pasta sauce, canned fruit, canned beans, canned vegetables, peanut butter, toilet paper, laundry soap, body wash, dish soap, household cleaner and toothpaste to replenish Greer Relief’s stock.

Lake Robinson Day serves as an educational opportunity for the public to learn about the sources of their drinking water. Greer CPW utilizes both Lake Cunningham and Lake Robinson as drinking water resources. The event will be filled with free activities for all ages including a free lunch, a community blood drive and rain barrel workshop.  The rain barrel workshop is the only cost associated with this event and will be run through the Watershed Ecology Center.

“One twist to the event that I am proud of is that we will be recycling and composting all the food waste. Thanks to generous partners like Greenville County Solid Waste, BMW Charity Pro-Am, Mosaic Color & Additives and Eco-Products, waste generated from this event will turn into soil for future gardens,” said Alison Rauch, Public Information Coordinator.

The event will feature more than 25 exhibitors, free inflatables, free kayaking courtesy of Cole’s Bait Shop, games, wildlife demos, and “Litter Trashes Everyone” puppet show by the Columbia Marionette theater at 11:00 am.
